METANOIA
the earth dances for those who see

Concept & Director: Marit van der Heijden
Decor: Yannick Verweij, Lisa Janssen
Music: Loden Rietveld
Video tech: Nathan Marcus
pictures by Pieter Klein

Dance performance (Lisa Frey) in a video-installation by Marit van der Heijden
The costume existed out of multiple layers of see-trough fabric, under which a harsher looking top made of jute.
The light fabrics made a wonderful tool to play with the projected images and for the dancer to fuse with the installation
Lisa was the embodiment of life and nature in her performance, a motherly-like energy
Red wool is used for the embroideries in the jute, a colour of strength, but resembling fragility.
The paint on her body was inspired by tribe symbols and patterns in nature.

A music video that represents the brains of our generation: over stimulated by app messages, updates and commercials.

All rise!
an opera in two acts
Music composed by Jan-Peter de Graaff
Director: Kenza Koutchoukali

Libretto: Yuri Robbers
Conductor: Andrea Gasperin
Decor: Yannick Verweij

An opera in two acts about the European Parlement.
The story contains themes such as making mistakes and being human,
constrasting with a perfect image that the people they rule want them to achieve.
Is it acceptable for people who have so much power to mess up sometimes and be human?

The costumes contain enlargements and hunchbacks to make them seem heavy or too big for them to be woarn;
such is their function as a leader.
To emphasize the character of the role and the country the singers represent in this opera,
each costume (but one) is enlarged in their own way,

'I decided to become a goat'
by Britt Benschop, Fleur van Daal, Heleen van den Reek, Lotte van der Mark,
Lotte Vergeer, Marielle de Bruyn, Myrtle Swchwrm, Sosha de Jong,
Tess de Vlieger, Yannick Verweij en Wout Jansen.

A play which emphasizes the unbearable day to day life in a repetition of actions.
The characters break out of that cycle and so break all bonds with reality.
I decided to become a goat is a pitoresque play by the 3rd year of HKU theatre design.
It's inspired by the story of Thomas Thwaits, who, just decided to become a goat one day.
